FAQs

  • Permanent hair removal through electrolysis and thermolysis techniques. Using state-of-the-art technology. A minute amount of electricity is gently applied to the base of the hair follicle. This process destroys the hair germ cells that reproduce hair. Therefore, the regenerative ability of the hair follicle is permanently eliminated. I am committed to clearly explaining the electrolysis process to provide a great service to all my clients.

  • Unfortunately, being able to give an exact number of treatments is unavailable. Every person is unique and has a differently anomaly which can take a little longer than someone who has no anomalies.

    These include:

Stage in the hair cycle, (early Anagen is what we need).

How consistent you are with your appointments.

The amount of energy you are capable of handling, with respect to the skin’s reaction.

Some coarser terminal hairs require more than one treatment.

Glandular disorders such as PCOS, thyroid, menopause, will create hair as well as some medications for these disorders.

    Stress will cause unwanted hair.

Tweezing, laser and waxing have been known to stimulate vellus hairs into coarse terminal hair.

  • What can be expected with treatments. Temporary swelling, redness and pin-drop scabbing and/or white heads may occur. These are all normal skin reactions to the treatment. If your scabbing is thicker than a pin drop and are taking longer than a few days to heal, please let your Electrologist know so we can adjust the settings. We want minimal to no scabbing.

Hyperpigmentation can also occur but will clear once hair is terminated. Electrolysis has been known to clear previous hyperpigmentation.

Any other side affects need to be addressed with your Electologist.

  • Electrolysis can be performed on all skin types and hair color types. It can be performed on all parts of the body.

Waxing, Threading, Tweezing, Shaving are all temporary hair removal methods and may cause vellus hairs to become terminal

We do not recommend Laser for the face. Laser has been known to stimulate vellus hairs to become terminal. Therefore, creating more unwanted coarse hairs.

Laser also has restrictions. Laser will not work on white, blond or red hair.

If you have darker skin tones, be sure to choose a Diode Laser machine that has a cooling mechanism. The cooling mechanism prevents hyperpigmentation.

We love Laser for larger areas such as legs, back, shoulders, private areas.

  • Avoid caffeine, sugar or chocolate, these cause sensitivity.

Avoid treatment if you are a week shy or on your menstrual cycle. This will also cause extreme sensitivity.

Numbing cream may be applied 30 minutes prior to your appointment. (apply a thick layer and cover with saran wrap). By doing this you keep the numbing cream active.

Do not shave your hair. You may trim or cut.

Sorry ladies and gentlemen, turn in those tweezers! Tweezing is not permitted during your Electrolysis treatments. This also includes threading and waxing.

Water is the most important part of the treatment. The moisture in your tissues is our conductor for the electricity. So please, hydrate before your treatment and after for recovery. You will see amazing results and more comfort during the procedure.

Face - No make-up on the areas to be treated.

    Axillae - no deodorant

Intimate Areas: Please bathe before your treatment.

  • Do not tweeze in between your electrolysis treatments, you will defeat the purpose, these methods stimulate, while I am trying to destroy. Cut, shave or depilatory creams are welcomed.

Redness and swelling, apply arnica gel, aloe vera and/or ice.

Scabbing, apply Neosporin. Do not pick the scabs you can damage your skin. Allow them to heal and clear out on their own.

Avoid touching the treated areas. This could create break-outs.

Avoid Make-up on treated areas. This could create break-outs.

Avoid sweating 24 hours. This could create break-outs.

Break-outs, apply a q-tip with tea tree oil onto the area.

Avoid sunbathing and/or direct sunlight for 48 hours.

  • Some re-growth is expected, this is normal, some follicles need more than one treatment. You will notice the hair to be scarce over time and not as coarse, eventually eliminated.
